| REPORT 2007 | |
After challenging arrangements, last February 1 st , the “ship” of Biannual Underwater images sailed again for the 11 th time, with its outspread canvas, on the route outlined by head figures for an underwater journey around the terraqueous globe, which ended February 3 rd 2007. With its outstanding convention, Dr. Stefano Bernasconi, from the polytechnic in Zurich, carried the public to discover the astonishing Lost City, in the deepness of the Atlantic, whereas Prof. F.P. Campione escorted the audience to the Papua New Guinea coasts, to expound the art, in particular the one nearly disappeared from the Sepik region, and the tough life of those areas. The nourished projection program, masterly proposed by Gino Buscaglia, dragged the amazed and charmed public in the depth of fresh and sea water : magnificent underwater sceneries, extraordinary and amazing sea animals, photographed and filmed by the greatest of underwater European pictures. Amidst these, diaporama slide- show and world vision picture film. Moreover, a multivision with innovative digital techniques and a brief screening of 3D projections. To welcome visitors, an exposure of fresh water pictures by Mauro Bernasconi, stereoscopic images of big sea animals by Lionel Pozzoli, foreshortening – as well as terrestrial- on Papua New Guinea and the surprising “amazement pool” with floating images on water surface.Musical instants granted a further touch of beauty to the atmosphere. The scientific contribution of Geologic Institute in the Polytechnic of Zurich, has stressed on one side, the bold researches and discovery by men, with an exhibition on the Lost City projection. Yet it has reinstated the man in time, introducing some stromatolites alive, creatures emerged on Earth precisely 3.5 billion years ago. Moreover the Geologic Institute is the only world’s guardian of these life’s figures in aquarium for study purposes. To share this exciting journey on the sea with the organizers, on board there were about 1’200 grade schools’ kids, groups of pupils and seniors, a large interested and alert public with a good foreign flow. Guests of Honor coming from Italy, France and Great Britain, not to speak of the extraordinary guest from Papua New Guinea, Sir John Kaputin ( who represents his own country also at the European Union in Brussels), have been warmly greeted at the final soiree by Attorney at Law Marco Borradori and Engineer Paolo Beltraminelli. If someone remained on land they were able to regain the lost Journey by visiting “Hydrospace – the other half of the planet- “ at the Cantonal Museum of Natural History, Viale Cattaneo in Lugano, from February 20 th to April 14 th 2007. www.ti.ch/mcsn . However, to view the diaporama and to live again their extraordinary stories, it is necessary to wait till the ship will be back in world cruising , to wait the right breeze, a fine sea… we must board for another amazing journey. …..
